First Christian Church has been a vital presence in Modesto since 1866 when we began our ministry.  Over 140 years later, we still believe that God has an important mission for us in this community.

We gather for worship weekly at 11:00am in our facility at 1038 McHenry Ave (at the corner of Corson) as well as for various other ministries throughout the week.

We are affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), currently the fastest growing mainline denomination.  We embrace a rich tradition while practicing ministry for today's world. The Disciples' values lay a strong foundation for a progressive faith community in today's postmodern society. They include:

• The ministry of all believers.
• The radical hospitality of the open table.
• The passion for compassion.
• The ecumenical unity of all Christians.
• The lack of any test of faith other than the confession of belief in Christ.

We are currently led by Rev. Molly Carlson.  She is serving as our interim minister and will remain with us as we prepare to call our next installed pastor.
